Still hovering around 80 here, but 50s west and north of us. High 50s at night. WE baby sat for my daughter. WE left at 10:30 PM, it was 62 there. Arrived home an hour later and it 72 here.

It’s been a month now…1/2″ of rain. It’s probably been the driest summer on record here. 1 1/2″ for July and August.

Ah, the first day back. I remember it well. The boys didn’t care, they wanted to go to a specific restaurant, then they kicked us to the curb. My daughter kicked us away as soon as her belongings were placed in her room. Her last 3 years were in a sorority house so the drop off weas even shorter. We couldn’t even get out of the car.

I presume all went well with the wedding. Having a long weekend had to help.

Son left Sunday. Just as we get everything back in order, daughter calls and comes down Sunday for the night with the fam.

Son and family are staying through Saturday. A bit of a hiccup replacing the AC which was above the 2nd floor ceiling. The contractor couldn’t install the new one since the access hole was too small. No. 2 son and family calls yesterday and says they are coming down. Their AC crapped out and it’s to be 90+ today. Back to entertaining. No.1 son and fam are at the Outerbanks, NC. Daughter and hers are in Cape Cod MA

Nope, doesn’t sound good for the bunny. Our dogs went the same way. They didn’t each and were lackadaisical, then they legs went. The first went in his sleep, had a vet come to the house for the second. The kids buried them in the backyard. When we moved my son came and dug up the boxes and reburied them at his place.

As these GKs get older and more active it gets harder and harder to keep with their pace. As they outgrow their bikes, we take them use here. Can’t beat wild blackberries. My father taught how they blackberry butter in Germany. It’s a really smooth blackberry jelly. All of the worthwhile blackberry patches out here are gone, lost to housing development. We used to fill every pot mom had in the cupboard.

I think it was Albania that was awarded their first Olympic medal ever, but it was a Russian wrestling for them.

I’ve never seen Dake as gassed as he was in the 2nd period of his 20-12 loss. He was ridiculously slow fending off those exposed ankles picks. He was totally outside his normal defense in that bout.

How did all of those Russian wrestlers find a slot on the team of another country? I know Mecic and Rivera, and a couple of others from the US have qualified because of parent citizenship, but how does a Russian end up wrestling for Bahrain ? It seemed like everyone of the mens medal matches had a Russian wrestling under the flag of another country.
