February 27, 2023 at 7:25 pm #1158RYouParticipantMy worst business trip was coming home from Wichita on a Thursday. Flight was delayed for a mechanical light. By the time the repair was made a snowstorm moved in….flight cancelled. Rescheduled for 6 AM connecting flight through Chicago. Left on time, arrived in Chicago to find out my connection was delayed for 3 hours for lack of a crew. Sat it out at the airport while that snowstorm moved into Chicago. Flight gets Canceled. I tried ever connection possible, wait listed on 3 airlines. Couldn’t get a seat and out until Monday afternoon. I thought about taking Amtrak back to Jersey, a 24 hour rail ride. I could have left on Friday and been Saturday night, just as that blasted snowstorm rolled in. Coulda, shoulda, but no I was sure a seat was going to pop up. It never did. Same thing happened on a Buffalo trip, snow cancellation, but that was close enough to rent a car and drive 10 hours.

Worst trip was when I took off a day early driving home to surprise wifey for Valentine’s. She was definitely surprised she got a call to pick me up at a hospital an hour away. Lost control on a slick road and rolled the car over in the ditch. Good times.
Have a terrific day word!February 28, 2023 at 8:35 am #1160RYouParticipantWell, I can’t top that one.
February 28, 2023 at 3:22 pm #1162mspartParticipantNot topping that! I have travelled by plane a fair amount and never really had a huge issue. The biggest one was the last one, where the plane took off from DC to bring us to Chicago and then on to Seattle. The Landing gear did not retract. So we landed at the DC international airport and overnighted. They put us on a direct flight to Seattle so it worked out.
But I have heard of nightmares and RYou’s is pretty bad word.

Slept on the floor in Atlanta during the 1″ of snow event that shut the entire city down. No flights out, no taxis, no trains, nothing.
Have a wonderful day word!March 1, 2023 at 9:08 am #1180RYouParticipantYeah the south is pretty poor at handling snow. I was in NC during an inch of snow. They had farm tractors out plowing the roads. Apparently the cities and towns don’t purchase plows and just contract with farmers to take care of the roads. And, they don’t stockpile road salt so the roads stay icy until the sun comes out.
Texans with pickups are pretty funny. They think they can still fly down icy highways with 4×4 traction. I was headed the airport, creeping along in the early AM after a rain freeze and the PUs were flying down the fast lane. There was a point where there was a rise in the road and you couldn’t see the road beyond the rise, but you could see the glare of red brake lights popping on. As soon as those PUs got to the rise they slammed on the brakes but couldn’t stop creating a string of rear end collisions.
March 1, 2023 at 2:55 pm #1181mspartParticipantI used my neighbor’s tractor to clear snow off our road a few years back. Not very effective, the shovel was straight so the snow spilled over on both sides. That was an exercise in frustration word.
