Gooooooooood morning RYou and everybody!!!!!!!!!!
Last day of school? Been done for a month here.
No rain and none forecast. I wish they would be wrong.
Have a wonderful day word!June 21, 2023 at 12:26 pm #1480mspartParticipantYeah, I remember we moved from AL to Seattle, I went to 1-5 grades in Hunstville and we got out in May. So I was excited for 6th grade to end in May. Culture shock!!!! We didn’t get out until the middle of June. It was a horrible realization for a kid. Yep, it is rough for kids around here word.

When does the school year begin? Here it is around August 21st, after the state fair. Local school switches to a 4 day week in the upcoming year.
Have a tremendous day word!June 22, 2023 at 7:01 am #1482RYouParticipantLonger school day, or just an extra day off?
Back in the day, we started at 7:30 and ended at 3:00. Today they start at 8:30 and end at 2:30. 1st week in September through 3rd week of June. The system ended the year a week earlier this year since they didn’t use any snow days.
June 22, 2023 at 12:17 pm #1483mspartParticipantWe start after labor day and end 3rd week of June. It sometimes goes longer because we don’t plan for snow days. Well, they did, and call it mid winter break in Feb. Those days were originally set aside as snow days. But now the week off is expected so we essentially have no snow days added to the schedule and taken away if they are not used.
Oh, and we have similar start time except on Wed, where they go to school for even less time, they start 2 hours later. It is a Teacher’s prep time. Like they use it word.

I think they extended the days by 40 minutes and will still have 3 Fridays scheduled. It has helped with teacher recruitment. Being a small school, they were struggling to get new teachers. Since announcing the 4 day week, several teachers from neighboring towns have signed on and most positions are filled for next year.
Have a fantastic day word!June 23, 2023 at 7:26 am #1485RYouParticipantI hate this day.
Sun starts setting sooner.
June 23, 2023 at 11:19 am #1486mspartParticipantI worked last night until about 9:30 to move a sprinkler head. Didn’t finish. But I was out there quite awhile. I think I started the job at 8:00 after going to dinner with my wife and doing some Home Depot runs.

June 25, 2023 at 7:31 am #1487RYouParticipantStarted the groundwork for an outside shower. Dug a gray dry well 4 ft deep x 36 in wide for a capacity of + 60 gals with a PVC cylinder with a lid. 6 in stone bottom and sides, 8″ on top. At that depth, the ground is near 100% sand and drains well. I’m a washing machine pan to capture the shower water with a 2″ drainpipe leading to the well. With that out of the way I can build the frame this week.
This all started last fall. Chris Christy (yes the big one) was tearing down his beach house. My daughter is friends with their designer got invited to scavenge the house before it was razed. She walked away with a 1 year old Sub Zero refrig, a wall oven / micro combo and Bosch dishwasher. I picked up a 10′ custom cedar picnic table and his cedar sauna and shower, and 2 maple corner cabinets. I spent a half day stripping out the cedar walls, floor seat and shelves, probably $2K worth of cedar that was under 5 years old. I also snagged 5 solid core interior doors with the jambs, and assorted Grohe vanity hardware which I’ve using for the bath renos. This was all the day before the demo team was due in. I tried to snag a couple of white marble double vanity tops but didn’t have the help needed to carry them down the stairs.

Nice haul from the beach house. Should all be heavy duty.
Couple sons came back for the weekend. One just proposed and brought the soon to be daughter-in-law. Also was his birthday. Grilled a lot and had a lot of ice cream.

We just had a quiet weekend and spent yesterday trying to figure out our trip to Italy. Accomodations are getting tough to find word.
