Hung the opener motor from the ridge beam 16′ in the air. Balanced an extension ladder against it and had to use my head for a third point of contact for balance while bolting down the angle iron. All went well once I finally had my measurements marked out. The blasted measuring tape kept collapsing while trying to mark the distancer from the wall. Today’s opener will be easier since I can hang the motor from the rafters which are lower and reachable with a folding ladder.

???? first post didn’t show up, then it did after the second. Now I can’t delete either of them.

Another chilly morning in the neighborhood.

Finished garage opener No. 2. 2nd time around, halt the time.

Wifey will be visiting the daughter and fam next week while her husband travels. Home alone, I’ll probably gut the last bathroom without interruption. It going to be a bear for sure. 4 walls of tile and what appears to be a layer of cement under the floor tile. The floor rises 2″ above the adjacent room so it could also be 2 layers of plywood.

    Gooooooooooooood morning RYou and everybody!!!!!!!!!!!
45 this morning. Hitting around 60 for the next 5 days.
Some great matches last night. Indian Hills won both duals. The top ranked women beat 5th ranked Carl Albert State 36-16 and featured a bonus match. Lexi Miller, the returning National Champion at 109 lbs. bumped up and wrestled Shammilka Miranda Diaz, the returning champion at 116 lbs. Shammilka won a hard fought battle 4-1.
The 19th ranked men’s team came back after being down to beat the 14th ranked Vikings 24-17. In his IHCC debut, Ansel Cervantes upset top ranked Hunter Hall at 197. It was loud, the students and crowd were fired up.
    Have a fantastic day word!

4th bathroom gut due to age. Wifey wants new. Still trying to figure the fastest way to remove tiled cement board that was screwed down. I remove tile but the screws are filled with adhesive. Breaking the cement board is a ton of effort and messy but it looks like I have no other option. The floor is going to be a nightmare – 3/4″plwood then a layer of tile, then glued 3/4″ plywood and another layer of tile.

I couldn’t get past the captcha, there was more progress breaking the walls.

RYou – I thought you were in a newer house. Seems like you are doing a lot of work there. Gutting the bathroom is right if you are removing flooring plywood. I can’t even imagine doing something like that. Good luck, don’t hurt yourself carrying awkward and heavy junk word.

Nah, this an older house. Original in 1946, then an addition in 82 and the second in 2000. That one was accommodate a son that was a quad from an auto accident. My wife liked the place because of the one floor living was heaven for her bum knees.

This bath is in the 2000 addition making it the second suite, bed and bath, which 9s greater for visiting friends. Main reason for the upgrade. Sometime in the past I suspect there was a water leak that required partial renovation.

I’ve since encountered crazy variations in the construction that indicate 2 separate efforts. I first poked around the entry threshold. That’s where I encountered the 2 layers of plywood and tile. Well, I chomped a bit further into the floor removal and SOB, 12″ in I’m now hacking out a 2+” concrete casting. It appears the plywood was just a build up to match the height of the original tile. Once the plywood was out it is nothing but concrete and fortunately for me no reinforcing mesh which would have been a killer to remove. I’m still hacking away at it. Now the walls are tiled to 4′ all around except the shower and is to the ceiling. The first wall I hacked was tile over cement board that was screwed down. The tile adhesive is in the screw phillips slot so I had to bust the cement then hack off the screws. A messy nightmare leaving nothing but cement and tile crumbs. I turn the corner to the next wall and SOB the cement board is nailed down. I had to break the wall into 24 to 30 inch squares other I risked being crushed prying off a whole wall. I was able to get a pry bar under each section of cement board and pry it off. vIt was still an effort to bash out lines in the tile/cement in order to pry off smaller sections. It took 2 days but the walls are out. Now back to the floor. I can bash it, but it takes a lot of swings and creates crumbs. A jackhammer will work but may be over kill, so Im going to try a hammer drill and spade bit. If I cab get it slide under the concrete it should split it. If not, I’ll go the jackhammer route.

My goodness, that sounds exhausting. I admire your patience, I would probably go straight to the jackhammer.
Thinking about going home and taking tomorrow off.
    Have a tremendous day word!
