Uh, not yet. This goofy site wouldn’t let me sign in.
April 30, 2024 at 9:26 pm #2448RYouParticipantHope you are doing better now. I got the pneumonia vax about 3 months ago.
May 2, 2024 at 10:11 pm #2449RYouParticipantStaying with the daughter this weekend. No. 2 GD makes her first communion on Saturday. Sunday, No. 3 GD gets baptized.
May 3, 2024 at 11:56 am #2450mspartParticipantHi Ryou,
Glad things are going well for you. I’m ok not winning the last word. It’s good to have you back. Any idea where AC went?
Yes, I just had my 3rd round of antibiotics because they found the pneumonia has spread for the 2nd time.
In addition, last Friday, just after waking up, my left eye went blind. Was a stroke. So I now have a little vision but not much in that eye. Essentially it is functionally blind. Better the eye than the brain I say. I’m ok, will just need to adjust. This has been a very bad month for me. But I’m thankful I am recuperating and can still think clearly. The last part is subjective I’m sure!!! Ha ha.

A few years back I was rebuilding the basement stairs supports for my daughter’s house., 4×4 posts had to replaced due to termite damage. I used wet pressure treated which turned out to be like a rock. I was nailing across brace and the hit the nail on the slide of the head. The nailed bounced and hit me in the eye. Fortunately, my eyelid reacted to close that quickly. The nail still punctured my retina but could have been much worse. 3 hours of surgery (wide awake the whole time too, but that’s another story) but it saved my vision. The weeks afterward we weren’t so sure. The one eye was a blur and I had to wear a patch for 4 weeks. Anyway, I have an idea of what you are dealing with physically. Like I said, I hope you ultimately recover the vision.
Haven’t a clue where AC has gone. I hope he’s OK.
May 7, 2024 at 12:21 pm #2452mspartParticipantWow, what an experience! You are lucky they were able to fix that. I’m not sure about fixing my situation. I’m not sure what was damaged, but sight hasn’t improved in the last week. But I’m ok. Pneumonia seems to be going away so that is good. 5 weeks is enough!! Yeah, I hope AC is ok too word.

May 7, 2024 at 11:02 pm #2453RYouParticipantKeep the faith the eye will recover. Doc gave me a 20% chance of full recovery. I’m not 100% from where i was but it’s not real noticeable. The grands called me pop pop the pirate. It was 4-5 months before I was sure of the recovery.
May 8, 2024 at 2:45 pm #2454mspartParticipantWell, I see a few doctors including retina specialists. I’m thinking the blood clot must have killed that part of the optic nerve or retina or something. I have seen no improvement since 2 Saturdays ago. But I am hopeful, just not expecting a change in vision. But it would certainly be nice word.

May 8, 2024 at 10:26 pm #2455RYouParticipantMy mom had a stroke that contorted the left side of her face. and impacted her speech. It took a few months, but the muscles relaxed, and she regained her speech. It may take a while, even months so keep optimistic.
By the way, I meant to say my cornea was damaged, not the retina. 3 hours on my back while the doc cleaned the wound and put 5 sutures. I had to stare into a light while sutured me and I could see his hand movements lacing the thread. No pain though, he applied drops that numbed my eye. Afterward the stitched felt like I had never ending foreign body in my eye when I blinked He gave me drops that made the sensation go away. It was another 2 hours under that light while he removed the sutures with a thin knife. That scary. Cough, sneeze look left or right, and he could slice the retina. For about a year I had flyers which appear to curly threads in your vision.
May 9, 2024 at 11:57 am #2456mspartParticipantRYou, thanks for that. I have not decided I won’t see in that eye much again. But I’m not too concerned about it. I would very much like for it to improve. Hearing of your mother gives me some hope. Feeling very much better from the pneumonia.
I’m happy you got through that very scary incident. I’m going to be careful to not use my table saw or mitre saw until I can see depth. I don’t need something getting lopped off word.

May 10, 2024 at 11:30 am #2458mspartParticipantThanks Ryou, I appreciate that.
I’m back working 8 hours a day now. I haven’t had that stamina in weeks. So improvement is happening word.

May 13, 2024 at 10:51 am #2460mspartParticipantWe had a stellar weekend. I didn’t see it, but my son got pics of the norther lights that were all over the sky here. And the skies were clear and it was nice a warm. Back to overcast skies and cool temps word.
