That was quick. My wife is over your way. She is visiting cousins on the upper east coast. Was in Boston visiting nieces just before that. I think she is having fun in the warm and humid conditions word.

July 7, 2024 at 5:19 pm #2514RYouParticipantOh it’s been hot and humid for sure. We’ve been on a run of 80’s for 2 weeks and an occasional bump into the 90’s. The worst part is the humidity, 80-90%. As of today it’ll be 80+ for the next 2 weeks with that 1-2 bump into the 90’s. Surprisingly the ocean water temp has been bouncing between 58 and 64 which is really cold for this time of year. Still, the nut cases continue to go in. A few have had legs cramp up and had to be pulled out by lifeguards.
No. 1 son and family stayed a week with us. Did some flounder fishing with the kids. They caught a few keepers. Also went digging for fossil shark teeth. The kids had a blast sifting the stream silt we scrounged up. Found 39 shar’s teeth that are 2-3 million years old. Most were over an inch long which is good size. One found a piece of a megalodon tooth. The remainder were from goblin shark. The eldest granddaughter asked her father if he could make earrings out the teeth for her. They all want necklaces so I went and bought some silver wire to lace them up. I’ll let the father buy the chains.
Wifey and I are finally relaxing.
July 8, 2024 at 1:31 pm #2515mspartParticipantThat’s great RYou. Relax away. We are planning to go camping with grandaughters to Wallowa area in North eastern Oregon. We leave Wed. Will be in the high 90s there but its a dry heat, yeah right!!
It has hit 90s here in Seattle for a few days and will cool down starting Wed word.

July 9, 2024 at 10:53 am #2516mspartParticipantWill be incommunicado for a week. Have a great week and I hope it cools down for you. I’ll check back in a week from Wed word.

July 11, 2024 at 7:30 am #2517RYouParticipantHope you had a great week camping. It’s been a while since we’ve gone out because of the house. We hope to get back into soon.
July 15, 2024 at 7:04 am #2518RYouParticipant2 more days in the 90s. My hydrangeas have fried in the sun.
July 17, 2024 at 12:42 pm #2519mspartParticipantWe are back! It was hot in the Wallowa OR area this past week. But it was very nice and a great place to visit. It is in the middle of nowhere, quite literally. Northeast OR and there is not much there. Towns are little but it is nice. Back safe and sound. Not wanting to go camping again in a tent for a while. I think my wife is permanently cured of wanting to do that word.

July 18, 2024 at 5:15 pm #2520RYouParticipantYup, not comfortable unless you are accustomed to it. Especially sleeping on the ground or on cots. My wife never really goes to sleep because natures sounds. After 2 days she’s heading home. It’s been a while. I hope the girls had a good time.
July 19, 2024 at 11:55 am #2521mspartParticipantWell, temps are cooling down here. It has been pretty uncomfortable here without AC. Not horrific, but not comfy. It’s a little warm. I finally fixed the ceiling fan. We are going to install more ceiling fans in the family room and in a bedroom. The electrician is coming tomorrow to get that all wired up. I’ll be installing the fans. Taking the one I just put up in our bedroom and it goes into the other bedroom. Then we have a new one for us with remote control word.

July 20, 2024 at 3:50 pm #2522RYouParticipantYou’ll like the convenience of the remote.
First weekend in month with no kids around. I’m finally getting some work finished.
July 22, 2024 at 12:33 pm #2523mspartParticipantYes, the remote is nice. And, the fan is perfectly balanced at all speeds. No need to balance. Because I am now half blind, it was a tough installation. That and my head lamp ran out of battery so that was of no help. I had to have my wife shine a flashlight so I could line up the screws to the holes to mount the fan blades. It was very frustrating. But it went up, and it was very nice. My wife runs the remote.
She had an electrician come over and wire the family room for a ceiling fan and that was tough. He will come and do another one in another bedroom and install them, for a steal of a deal. So that is a pretty good deal.
Cooling down here, misting today, overcast skies. High of 72F predicted word.

July 23, 2024 at 7:59 am #2524RYouParticipantThe fans are great in summer, but also help move the warmer air near the ceiling in winter.
Daughter and fam are back with us. #1 grandson is sailing in the local junior Olympics competition. 5 races yesterday, 2 more today. No one has a clue about the standings as they have published the first day results.
We went to another grandson’s baseball game last night. The were playing for the playoff championship and won 14-9. The team was 1-9 during the season. Somehow they found the magic in the tournament. The beat the #1 seed by 1 run, the 4 seed by 2 runs and then stuck it to the #2 seed by 5.
July 23, 2024 at 11:16 am #2525mspartParticipantWow, I guess they found the magic. That’s great!
Looking forward to the ceiling fans getting installed word.

July 23, 2024 at 12:38 pm #2526RYouParticipantI put in 3 here, all with no preexisting wiring. I had to cut holes between every other joist, then patch the holes. I had drill extension, but the bit kept snarling on fiberglass insulation. I’ve gotten pretty at patching sheetrock holes, so it wasn’t too big of a deal, just time consuming. I have a lot of time on my hands.
July 26, 2024 at 11:52 am #2527mspartParticipantI’ve installed a few fans. When I had an attic, it was easier to run wires and secure the fan. This electrician cut a hole in the sheet rock to figure out how to run wires and did mud it up, but I get to sand and paint. Two different rooms so I will have some of that joy that you seemingly experience all the time. Yeah it is not all that hard, but mudding is not my specialty. I’m hoping I can sand properly and have it look proper. That will probably wait for a week while I get all the other stuff done around the place that my wife wants done, but that is certainly one of them word.
