It was cloudy once again. Weather guessers predicted 4 straight days of rain. Not a drop. It’s been 2 weeks. now. The lawn is looking like the desert.

We had about 0.5 inches of rain this week. But our lawn has not changed. We need more rain. I complain about rain during the fall, winter, and spring. But we need some in the summer word.

Insane Olympics. Paris OC designed the triathlon swim in the Seine River. Are they the biggest idiots on the planet? E.coli levels and other contaminants have been above the acceptable since before the games opened. The race was postponed on the day scheduled because the E.coli was too high. But astoundingly, it was okay the next day after more than a month of high tests. I really feel sorry for both the men’s and women’s swimmers that were forced to enter that muck.

I agree. They should have used the olympic pool or practice pool. Or move it to the ocean. These Olympics are crazy. Each event starts with a guy pounding a stick on the floor. It is supposed to make a big sound. It does not. They have the big sound pre-recorded and there is no synchronization so the guy doing the pounding has no idea when he/she is supposed to pound the stick. Just amateurish. Have a mic on the stick for crying out loud word.

Daughter in law stopped in with the kids. She signed us into her Peacock account so we have access there. Not bad, you can sort sports and individual events.

Swedish Tri athlete has been hospitalized. They pulled the men from their event.

Tri was a water disaster I hear. Seine horrible place to swim. They should have held this part of the olympics in Nice. Lots of open water there. I bought Peacock for the olympics and have to wade through all sorts of ads. Not happy about that. But I am seeing a lot of stuff so that is not so bad. Wrestling this week, even better word.

50KG gal from Japan, undefeated in 82 bouts, 4x World Champ and Olympic Champ got beat 3-2 by a gal from India in her opening bout. 2 point TD with less 10 secs left + 1 for scoring last. You just never know who will pull that big upset, but someone always manages to pull it off.

Mens Pole Vault final was a good watch. Downside, its almost 3 hours on the Peacock replay.

After .45 inches rain in July, we had 2″ yesterday, 1″ the day before, and much more tonight, tomorrow and Thursday. And, that’s before the remnants of the Florida hurricane move north over the weekend and is expected to drop 8″.

Hah, “When it rains it pours.”

Daughter in law and 3 kids intended to be with us for the week while my son is in Brazil. They decided to bug out tomorrow. I don’t blame them, they can visit with friends while it’s raining, otherwise will be stuck inside with us for 4 days. ( or we’re stuck with them for 4 days). Almost everything to do around here is outside, except for the arcades and they’ve pounded the game pricing do to the inflation. $1.50 to play 1 round of pinball.

Highway robbery I say!! It’s been fun to watch the Olympics. But starting to tire of it. Saw a little wrestling last night, and then beach volleyball. Will watch a little wrestling tonight as well. We have been mostly dry except for one day last week. Today it is cooler but it will get warmer again word.

Freestyle starts tomorrow. 5 AM EST, 12 for the semis. I hope Peacock has the replays up early.

India gal that upset the Japanese champ missed weight for the gold medal final against USA. Geez, Olympic final and she misses weight. Must have drank a gallon of water after the semi or gorged on Oreo’s.

That is crazy. She couldn’t face Hildebeest. I watched the match last night. She did pretty good.

Men’s freestyle went bust. OMG Dade let up 20 points. He’s a brick wall on defense. I haven’t watched it yet. His brain must have been in some kinda fog.

Spent most of the time watching womens basketball and volleyball. I’ ev never watched that much bball before but those gals were shooting the lights out with 3’s. Also enjoyed watching the upstart Belgian womens team. They put on quite a show, well coached and great talent. I just wish they had beaten France to give us another IS v Belgian final. The Belgians shocked the heck out everyone leading the game for 60 minutes only to lose by 1 point with 00 on the clock.

Overall I think Snyder, Lee, Retherford and possibly Dake may be done competitively. I don’t see Lee holding on for 4 more years even if it is in LA. Snyder will be 35. Retherford looks like he’s been toasted with the concussion. Dake may well hold on, but with 4 kids I think he’ll be looking to move on to coaching. If a gig like OSU for Taylor comes around I think he takes it. Same for Snyder. Rutgers has to hire an assistant head coach. Maybe they are holding off on Retherford or Snyder until the Olympics are over. Dake ?

Rutgers has the $4 recruiting class this year. It sure would be nice to top that off with a top tier coach that can relate to these kids and more in the years to come.

Hey, great post. I think the mens FS team did underperform. Everyone figured Snyder would be Bronze or possibly Silver with Taz in there. But losing the Bronze medal match without much offensive effort to show for it, I think he needs to hang it up. He is not aggressive on his offense. Very offensive in hand fighting. But half efforts going for the legs. I was disappointed. There’s no problem if you get outclassed, but to not even really try is tough to watch.

Lee’s match was really good. He had some opportunities but he got beat.

Dake got beat bad. The match just got away from him and the Japanese wrestler was definitely ready for him. The Bronze medal match was a great match. When it finally came down to it, being down like he was, he rallied and wrestled like we all know he can. Too bad he didn’t wrestle like that for the whole match. But that was a barn burner of a match. Great wrestling skills exhibited.

Did not see any of Retherford or Parris. I feel bad for Retherford. That’s just a major bummer. Couldn’t even go for Bronze. I remember when Lowney suplexed that dude and hurt his neck. But he went on to get Bronze. I have no idea how bad the concussion was, but it seems like you are at a place you might never be again. You go for it. But my son has had serious concussions and it has a lasting effect, so for his future, this was probably a good move. I feel really bad for him.

Parris got beat and was out when the guy that beat him got beat. That’s they way that goes.

We had 4 of 6 wrestlers make the semi’s. That is nothing to sneeze at. That’s pretty good.

What about the Japanese team? They overperformed. What a show they put on word.

How did all of those Russian wrestlers find a slot on the team of another country? I know Mecic and Rivera, and a couple of others from the US have qualified because of parent citizenship, but how does a Russian end up wrestling for Bahrain ? It seemed like everyone of the mens medal matches had a Russian wrestling under the flag of another country.
