Nah, just got lucky. A friend had planned to go but had to sell is tix. Saturday night on campus with nowhere else to go. I thought we were going to watch as piano player / lounge act for the rest of the night when they first rolled the piano on stage. I’ll bet 3/4’s of the kids there never heard of him. The place wasn’t even sold out, maybe half full. Those that bought $3 balcony seats came down and filled in the empties. I have to say I was impressed with the music of this new guy. They were selling his t shirts with this droopy basset hound face and his Cold Spring Harbor album for $3 each. That T is probably worth a bundle now. I didn’t get one. $3 was 6 beers at the pub. Priorities.

When I was in college, we learned quickly that we could go to a concert, stand outside, and very soon after the band started, a couple would walk out and we would ask for their tickets. They said sure. So we saw Journey that way. There were others we saw that I don’t remember right now. I saw a number of concerts at college, Elton John with his classic lineup, Doobie Brothers, Heart and others. This was from 1980-87 or so. It was a great time to see bands word.

Journey is one of my favorites but never saw them live. Maybe you bumped into this one. It rolled through while I was on Facebook. This guy is encouraged to try out for americas got talent by students at the grade school where he’s a janitor. He would sing in the halls while working. He sang Don’t Stopp Believing and nailed it. Well, he won the show, and they brought in Journey to back him up. Quite a story.

It seems this site won’t accept a Youtube link, but you can find him by Googling Richard Goodall.

My buddy outside Atlanta had almost 30″ of rain over 2 days. Fortunately, he’s on high ground. The low ground around him was flooded for 2 more before he could get to a grocery store. Even then, the shelves were sparce. No dairy, deli, seafood or meat since the employees couldn’t get in.

Back home, the grass has already started to green up.

Yeah, Atlanta got hit hard. Asheville NC got hit really hard I hear. Spent last saturday cutting and splitting a tree we felled last week. That wore me out. Hard splitting. I’ve never had such trouble splitting wood. So I rested watching the Alabama Georgia game. Great game especially because Alabama won and are now #1 word.

Was that tree fresh cut or a widow maker? Fresh wood is not easily split. This place has a gas fireplace. I’ve thought about removing the burner. but stories like yours make drop the idea quickly. I prefer wood as it has greater heat output. The one we have is purely aesthetics and sucks more heat out than it creates.

Alabama did look great. That win likely got them into the playoff even if they lose 2. Rutgers is coming around, 4=0 with wins over Virgina Tech and Washington. Washington lost nearly the entire starting line up from last year’s bowl team, but I was still surprised Rutgers won. A real test is this weekend in Nebraska.

Yeah, Alabama didn’t look good this time!! Holy smokes!!

The tree had been topped but was still alive. It was gnarly all over. Maple – hardwood. We don’t burn because we have high ceilings and the room never heats up. We even bought a fireplace heater which is a form of grate with tubes and a fan and the heat from the tubes is blown through the tubes and into the room. Much better situation but it still didn’t do much. Plus we burned the carpet. So we gave up on burning wood. I like wood heat. If we had a stove, we probably would burn more word.

Hah, when we had our house with fireplace, an ember popped out and burned the floor. Before wifey got home I went and bought a carpet. Wifey loved it, “I always wanted a carpet in that room.” She never saw it and never asked why I decided to get it. From then on, I closed the screen in front.

Where did Alabama go last weekend ? They weren’t at the game with Vandy. The defensive coordinator has some splainin’ to do.

Offensive coordinator also. That was a good solution to the floor burn. Lost my voice over the weekend and haven’t been feeling up to par for about a month, a slow burn. Close to pneumonia but not quite there yet thank goodness. I’ve had enough of that word.

Wifey went to stay with the daughter on Monday while the son in law was on a business trip. Monday afternoon she comes down with a bout of kidney stones. She’s got a spongy kidney and this her 5th bout with them. Doc sends her for lab tests and cat scan. Tuesday morning, he gets the results, calls and tells her to get to the emergency room. She calls me so I drop what I am doing and drive up there. It’s only an hour away. Spent all of Tuesday with her. Doc orders another round of tests. We spend the whole day in the ER, he never shows. 11 PM they chase me out so I head to my daughter’s place. Wifey never gets assigned a room, spends the night in the ER hallway. Next day the doc tells her she has bladder infection from stones in both kidneys. Doc checks her into the hospital for treatment. She finally got released today. 4 days turned upside down.

Wow, I’m sorry to hear that. What a terrible week. I hope your wife is doing better now. I have a friend that had kindey stones and he was pretty rough for a little while. Watching TV he had to turn it down when commercials came on because the increased volume irritated his stones. Kind of weird. I really hope things get back to normal for you and your wife.

Weather here is getting back to normal for Seattle. Rain with a chance of more rain word.

Rain, what’s rain? We have a 34% chance of rain a week from Wednesday. Upside, nothing but sunshine even though the highs will be in the 60’s.

Wifey is doing okay. They couldn’t bust them due to an infection. That’s scheduled 2 weeks out. Until then she has to live with a stent.
