Woohoo AC is back. Great to hear from you.

So far, it’s been a big science. On Monday, the area was bombarded by a solar flare that left a portion of the sky neon pink for an hour or so. Then, the past 2 nights the Tsuchinshan Comet and its longtail appeared in the evening sky. It was only visible for about 15 minutes after the sun was down allowing the sky to be dark enough to see it, yet with enough light to illuminate its tail.

That’s pretty cool with the Comet. I remember Halleys when it came around, that was pretty spectacular. We can’t see the current comet with all the overcast skies and I think we are not in the zone to see it for some reason. It seems we should be but maybe not. Cool but dry so far today word.

The comet is quite low in the sky. We get only about 15 minutes to view it before is sets behind the tree lined horizon. It’s due west on the compass if you can get to a point to see the horizon. It is visible soon after sundown and initially appears as the only star in the western sky. We never got to see Halley’s because of storms and clouds.

Well, that’s impossible here in the woods. Our garden was invaded by a bear the other day. Deer, coyotes, racoons, opposums, and squirrels. Even a cougar drops by every once in a while. Can’t see the horizon due to trees and overcast skies word.

I’m surprised anything grows in the garden. I fenced off the vegetable garden. We’ve tried every deer resistant plant out there and they still eat the flower buds.

In the midst of a 5 day Indian Summer, mid 70’s since Saturday and low 80s on Monday.

I remember when I moved to MN in the Twin Cities, my neighbor warned me about winter and told me how to prepare. He said there will be a 3 week Indian Summer and that is the time to get it all done because after 3 weeks, the freeze starts. And he was right. He had me doing stuff I had no idea I needed to do coming from Seattle. But I did and we were safe with no pipe bursts or anything.

We have a fence of sorts over the garden but it doesn’t really keep the deer out. Amazingly, the deer ate down one of the hot pepper plants but not all 4. So we only have 2 jalapenos and 1 habanero. Currently there are 13 pickable Jalapenos, and that is after we have bagged 3 sandwich bags of them, and we have 12 habaneros. Bumper crop. My wife makes a habanero jelly that she really likes a lot word.

My garden is only 8 x 4 so I skipped the jalapenos this year. My wife only eats grilled jalapeno poppers stuffed with assorted cheeses. I scrape out the seeds to make them edible for her. When I grow them, they go from plant to grill in a couple minutes.

Hi AC – Glad you are back. Hopefully all is well with you and yours.

Furnace failed to run this morning. It is high efficiency so it makes water. I figured the pump broke so I changed it. Nope. It is a new furnace, and it is trying to run, I can hear it and the fan is trying to turn. The furnace guys are trying to help me over the phone. I think they will be coming over to fix this thing. Good thing it is an Indian Summer for now word.

Furnace works and air conditioning works. Depending on the day, wifey likes to test both of them multiple times. She is climate change word.
