December 5, 2024 at 5:50 pm #3234RYouParticipantit’s amazing what winter hibernation motivates a person to do.
Speaking of winter, only 16 more days until that sun clock starts moving forward again.
December 6, 2024 at 12:44 am #3236ACGunsParticipantReady for the longer days. Haven’t needed the gas powered snow blower yet but can’t wait to use the gas lawn mower. Haven’t converted to the electric word.
December 6, 2024 at 1:22 pm #3245mspartParticipantLonger days will be good. I agree. But that has to wait until Santa comes to town word.

December 7, 2024 at 9:58 am #3267RYouParticipantDucked another snow squall that hit the kids up north. Yesterday was the coldest day since January 21, 2023. 50’s will be back tomorrow.
December 9, 2024 at 12:27 pm #3271mspartParticipantWe got rain, and rain, and more rain. Mild temps. Grandaughter stayed the night. It was a good day despite the rain word.

December 10, 2024 at 7:52 pm #3272RYouParticipantHere too. 1.5″ expected over the next 24 hours. A nice slow seep into the ground which will benefit tree roots.
December 11, 2024 at 1:32 pm #3276mspartParticipantThe people here in WA gave enough signatures to repeal the State law that prohibits police chases. During the time police couldn’t chase, auto theft rose exponentially. The legislature did not want this initiative on the ballot so they passed it. Guess what? Auto theft is down by double digits (percentage wise speaking). Who would have thought word?

December 12, 2024 at 1:09 pm #3326RYouParticipantThose weather guessers were up to no good again yesterday. They predicted one of those cyclone bombs to hit last night.
NOT
It just rolled passed us out on the Atlantic and ran into Long Island, Rhode Island, Mass and Maine. Got a nice drizzle though if only 1″ of water. GKs are back on the mats this weekend.
They just stiffened the criminal sanctions for juveniles here in NJ. It was the juvies that were stealing the cars and catalytic converters. The crime rate spiked pretty high after they downgraded juvenile penalties to immediate release and $0 bail upon being charged and whitewashed record upon becoming 18. The organizers were paying the kids a ton of money for the thefts as well as shoplifting booty. Now they get sent for 6 months to a year at a juvenile jail. These legislators were just plain stupid for downgrading grand theft auto to a misdemeanor.

December 12, 2024 at 1:36 pm #3328mspartParticipantI agree. WE are facing the same thing here in WA and specifically in King County. There is no penalty for juvie offenses. They have a diversion program. Last week a 20 year old had a 17, 15, 12, and 12 year olds trying to steal guns from a local gun shop. All were caught. An alert cop noticed something was wrong there. Anyway, what is going to happen to these minors? Tough to know around here. But they need some serious time to think about the arc of their life and what they might do to alter that. Perhaps that does not mean diversion.
Here’s another thing. Ankle bracelets work really good except those that monitor them work 8 hours a day 5 days a week. So at night and on weekends, there is no effective monitoring of the ankle bracelets. This county has gone absolute bonkers word.

December 15, 2024 at 11:07 am #3338RYouParticipantNj hasn’t been anywhere near as bad as NYC. At least NJ revised the juvie code but its still not as tough as it was 6 years ago. The mayor of NYC indicates he has done a 180 on crime and illegal immigrants. He no longer sanctuary city as a title and has been paying for flights to get them out. Their no bail policy and juvie code hasn’t changed, so crime remains high. NYC employers are starting to put a lot of pressure on the mayor and council. Employees are refusing to back into NYC offices because of the crime. Basically, speaking through NYC chamber of commerce they’ve told the mayor to clean things up quickly or they are pulling out of NYC. He knows if a 1/4 of the employers do so the city will go bankrupt. If he doesn’t unload the immigrants, feeding and housing them in 3-4 star hotels will.
Funny how his philosophy on life changed right after he was indicted for 5 counts of corruption arising out of campaign.
December 16, 2024 at 1:35 pm #3339mspartParticipantFunny how that works. Make life easier on criminals, and crime goes up. Funny how accountability changes behavior better than no accountability. Whodathunkit word?

December 17, 2024 at 10:34 pm #3340RYouParticipantHit 62 today. A storm glided up from the south and brought some warm air with the rain. Back to mid 30’s tomorrow but it sure felt nice.
December 18, 2024 at 12:15 pm #3341mspartParticipantCold and rainy here but 11F higher than the average for this day. Still feels cold at 54. Got almost an inch of water over the last 24 hours. It is supposed to get warmer and the snow level will go up to 8000 ft. That’s really high. Our ski areas are at 3000 and 4000 ft levels. So hopefully the snow level gets down lower. Unfortunately, that means colder here too word.

December 19, 2024 at 2:33 pm #3345RYouParticipantThose guessers are saying 1-2″ of snow Friday. We’ll see. I’m guessing rain.
