I can’t do any kins of berry. The birds and squirrels get them just before they ripen. I’ve been trapping the squirrels and dropping them in an orchard 20 miles away. They keep stealing the apples.

We have bird netting over our blueberries and that has helped a lot. Seems to deter the deer as well. We got snow, schools are on a 2 hour late schedule. I live on a pretty steep hill with a steep driveway. I may work from home today, may go in, not sure. My tires are sport tires so they don’t do well on ice and slush. But it was sure nice watching the snow fall word!

We have about 3 inches of snow and 2-3 inches more are supposed to come. Finally some snow word.

No snow here, just sleet, rain and now ice. That’s a miserable combination because you can’t do anything outside and can’t go anywhere. The guessers are saying maybe 2″ of snow tonight.

Earlier this week it warmed up melted snow and then froze. I slid down to the main road, that was scary. But that is mostly clear now. They have either closed school or started 2 hours late every day this week except today. Heating the classroom (our garage) for preschool is tough, those poor space heaters are having a difficult time keeping up. And it is goign to get colder later this week, getting to 19 overnight Tue, but then it warms up and back to rain on Saturday next.

My wife has been sick with a stomach flu. She’s had it pretty rough word.

Sounds like wifey may have picked up the norovirus that’s been roaming around. It’s been brutal for those affected. It’s quite common for it to be communicated through kids / schools.

I hate to do it but I’m rooting for the Eagles this year, more or less for Saquon Barkley, the former Giants via Penn State running back from NJ. He’s been the best RB for the past few years and deserves the ring. I went with the Chiefs for the past 2 years because their prime RB Isiah Pacheco starred at Rutgers and was well under the radar with the pros going in the seventh round. The guy never had an O line worth anything and I guess the Chiefs saw that and took a chance.

My son got influenza A which is even worse. My wife has been down for a good 4 days, with 3 more not feeling well. Not sure about today.

What a beatdown yesterday. It was brutal on KC. I am an Alabama fan and was happy for Jalen Hurts word.

The Eagles defense totally dominated KC forcing Mahomes to make bad passes. You know he is accustomed to completing unreal completions that he seems he was overconfident in his ability. Still, he landed a few bombs in the 4th Q and that last 65
yard bombshell to the endzone. was right on target The Eagles O Line stifled the KC D. They stuffed Barkley but DBs couldn’t handle the Eagles receivers and let Hurts sneak through a few times. It was Hurts day for sure and he dominated.

The weather guessers out here are struggling again. The forecast for tonight runs from 45 % chance of rain by one to 4-6″ of snow by another and the rest a somewhere in between including one with freezing rain with lots of power outages due to broken trees.

The boredom finally got to me so I started working on doing something with the basement. I’ve gutted some old paneling and redirected some walls. I’m not sure where I’m going with it but will probably create a project workspace and an exercise room. I’m leaning toward getting a rowing machine for some all around muscle work. Treadmills and lifting just bore me. With a rowing machine I could add a TV with a wi-fi connection for entertainment

We have a basement workout room. Universal gym, squat station, treadmill (not used much) and exercise bike ( used everyday). We do have a rowing machine that would be a good work out, but my shoulders are no good right now and I don’t see that helping at this time. But maybe when they get fixed I can do that word.

Absolutely crazy weather the past week. 2 5″ snowfalls followed by b50’s which melted them away. 3 days of wind gusting to 50-60 MPH. Now we’re heading into 3 frigid days with highs of 30F just before we get hit with more snow Wed/Thurs somewhere between 1 and 12″

We’re saddled up inside and that rowing machine would have been a nice break. The 4 boys are entered in the regional state wrestling tournament next weekend. It was supposed to be 2 weeks ago but was cancelled twice due to snow predictions which were busts. The youngest of the bunch is starting to develop some natural mat awareness offensively and defensively and is a nonstop wrestler. He hasn’t lost in 10 bouts and that loss was in an exhibition bout to kid 2 years older and up a weight class because the other team didn’t have someone his size, 36 LB class.

Had a great weekend. It snowed a little on Friday, just a dusting . My wife and I went to Ballard (a neighborhood in north Seattle) and that was fun. had a great weekend. Congrats on the 36 lber. going up a weight class and an age group is a lot harder at 36 than at 176, not that I would know. I wrestled at 115 my senior year word.

Temp was 28 today but the windchill knocked it down to 5. 2 more days around 30 then into the 40 for 10 days. 5 are just a blink away.

Actually feels kind of warm here. Lows in 40s and highs in 50s. But with that is lots of wetness word.

The cold weather just started to break here. 52 yesterday and mid 50’s through Friday. Sunshine and looking forward to it.

That youth wrestling tournament was a nightmare. I had no idea it was going to be that big. #2 son’s boys cancelled out because of colds they picked up Friday. There were 22 brackets. No.1 son’s boys had 17 and 22 in their bracket. At the lower weights, there was only a 3 lb difference between weight classes. 2 heavyweight classes with 10 in each. Even with 6 mats running it went from 2 PM to 10:30 pm for the heavyweight last final. We left after 5.5 hours when the boys were done. They did okay. 1 is in kindergarten and the other is 2nd grade. The tournament was organized by the 3-6th grade wrestling league but they allow non-team starters to participate which made for the huge crowd of wrestlers and fans. Both were wrestling above their experience level. Both finished in 7-8 place. Medals went to top 6 so they just missed out. Both went 2-2. The little 45 lber pulled off some surprises. He won his first bout 18-15 in a scramble fest. He went in unseeded and in his second bout he pinned the no. 2 seed with a reverse cradle. They were in a scramble and was under the other kid but had his leg. He was able to slide his leg out and while on his back he saw the head, roped it in and was able to get the pin while his back was against the kid. He lost his next bout 11-7 and then was a bit pooped and lost his second consolation 8-0 to the no.3 seed. The older boy was at 53 lbs. He won a close opening bout 9-6, then got pinned by the no.1 He won his first consolation 11-8, then lost 8-0 to the no.3 seed. They were disappointed, so we kept pointing out they were wrestling 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders. They both conked out when they got to the car and slept all of the way home.

Our State tournament happened this weekend. The HS I used to asst coach at had 9 guys and 1 gal that went. All lost two, one made it to the semis and then lost the semis and lost his next two matches pretty badly. He did real well to get to the semis, and then tanked. But the guy that beat him in hte semis toasted him, and that guy got beat in the finals by a real hammer. Our guy won Fall 3:37, and 5:18, and decision 10-4. Pretty good. He lost 11-0 in the semis, lost 9-6 in the consi semis, and then lost by fall in 4:00. The guy that beat him in the semis was pinned in 1:10 in the final. Brutal weight class.

It has rained 2 inches in the last 72 hours. Been very wet but warmer. My dehumidifier finally filled up after being empty for 2-3 weeks due to low humidity and cold air word.
