Yes, it is crazy. The idea behind the change is good as it creates an official schedule to work to. However, because of problems in a completely different database, the wrong groups are assigned the work. Rather than assume the other database is correct and disrupt all the groups in the area, why not make sure the database is correct. And if…[Read more]

Humidity around here is low so not getting so much leakage. That said, a new procedure was created here at work and it is totally screwed up. I think the general idea of the change was good, but execution lacks a lot. Stuff that I am supposed to be working is assigned to another group. Normally that would be a good thing but in this case,…[Read more]

Yeah, still leaking. Too many joints with suspect cement I’d guess. The leaking is slowing down so that is good word.

I can’t wait for days to get longer. It’s getting dark here so early. Well, they came out and fixed the leaking exhaust pipe. This morning, I checked and it is leaking through the joints again. This is something that never happened before. I’m wondering how the water is getting through the PVC cement. I’ll have to call them again next…[Read more]

Well, the furnace is a high efficiency one that makes water. Unfortuantely, the exhaust is leaking water right by the furnace. Brand new installation and I watched the guy prime the pipe, but water is leaking out anyway. I did not actually see him cement the pipe. So they have to come out again to fix that up word.

All of Western Washington is under flood watch. The Amtrak train from Seattle to Portland has been cancelled due to the effects of all the water. We have a creek going through our yard which is essentially mountain drainage. It was rolling hard last night and plugged the pipe and flooded my neighbor’s garage. Very bad word.

Furnace is in and working!! We had 2.1 inches of rain the last 24 hours and they are expecting this Pineapple Express to dump another 1.5 in the next 24 hours. That’s almost 10% of our annual rainfall. Rivers are at flood stage here and the snow that was in the mountains has melted and feeding the floods word.

They are changing out the furnace right as I type word.

Oh, I got the furnace running. The electrical switch that provides electrical control power to the gas furnace was broken. I replaced it and it is working fine. It is actually warm in the house now word.

New furnace coming on Monday. I hope it is not a lemon word.

My wife and kids have been complaining about a natural gas smell around the house. I had smelled that too from the furnace exhaust. So they complained enough that I finally called our heater guy to tell me why the furnace is not completely burning the gas. Because it is a high efficiency furnace it has an additional heat exchanger that makes…[Read more]

Yes, that may be true. Didn’t gain any weight on that trip. I have since gained some back. Yeah, we did a fair amount of walking. In Rome we did take a taxi a few times. Doing so actually made my wife fear for her life. I actually enjoyed the crazy driving as long as I wasn’t doing the driving word.

September is a good time for Italy. Crowds are down, the Aug vacationers from Europe and US are gone mostly. However, if you want to see something, I would suggest getting tickets for it ahead of time.

Case in point – We went to Italy in Oct 2013 I think, and it was great. You could go anywhere in Rome and get in mostly. The Vatican…[Read more]

That was my wakeup call. I tried to retire last Nov and was told I could no problem. I would just need to get some other job for another 10 years. Our…[Read more]
