I am unaware of that tactic. But we do have an oregon school that is so far removed from every other oregon school that it is part of the WA HS sports. It is just south of the border from Walla Walla. I’ve been there and they are isolated from the rest of Oregon for sure.

Here, they are pushing people out. They raise taxes only, no reductions. No discussion of “we are raising this so we will reduce that”. It is only upwardly mobile. Last year taxes were raised 9 Billion, the largest in state history and this is due to ever increasing spending.

I know in MN, the Ojibwe (I think) figured out how to blanche wild rice. They migrated north in the summer and south in the winter. Once they figured that out, they stayed in the MN area year round. Miserable!!

yeah, I remember those days. Weather here is fairly mild. Sometimes we get some serious snow in Nov but it was very mild this year and last. Above freezing the next three days. Where we lived in MN will get to 33 on Wed, otherwise, full days below freezing. How did the Indians do it? Why did the Indians do it? Word.

What we do to smoke the turkey is put it in the smoker and turn it on. The smoker is very low tech. It has a pan that holds a bag of chips. And a water dish. That’s it. So we cook it until all the chips have smoked out. Then we pull it out and throw it in the oven where we can control the temperature and finish it in there. Works…[Read more]

I smoked our turkey and it was really really good. My MIL and a neighbor came to dinner with us so it was just 4 of us. Our son and his family came after. They were at his in-laws who live 1/4 mile down the road!! They are very close and are great.

In MN, at least in 1994-2001, they came with snowplows in neighborhoods and big roads and cleared them. Salt was a major feature of that but still, roads were cleared quickly word.
