70s but no rain in sight, could use some.

Great Mother’s Day with the gang.

Popped 90 yesterday 77 overnight. Slow drop to 70 this afternoon then 50s tonight. It was fun while it lasted.

Another sunny day in the neighborhood.

80’s today and tomorrow but no 90’s, no rain in sight

No rain in sight. Just 70’s and sunshine.

5 days of 70’s swept away by northern winds. Southern winds are fighting back and plan to return tomorrow.

1st grandson, 1st Holy Communion ….. far too much BBQ

predicted rain all afternoon. Nothing. Predicting sunshine today….well maybe it will show up.

Those guessers predicted rain from 12 to 7 Pm. Never happened. Predicted clouds this AM and we got a sprinkling of rain. Not enough to test the chimney crown.

Now I need rain to be sure the new chimney crown solved my leak. Maybe I’ll pour buckets of water all over it. Not real interested in hauling buckets or a hose to the top of the roof.

Finished the cap around 12. Weather report changed to possible rain at night. Had to go back up and cover it with plastic.

Got up on the roof and temporarily patched the cracks in the chimney cap….just before 5″ of rain hit. The rafters around the chimney didn’t get wetter so I think that is the problem. Sun today so I’ll be back up there replacing the cement cap.

So I’m running vent pipe up in the ceiling near the chimney and what do I find….a leak. It’s been dry the past week and never would have discovered if not for the timing of running the vent pipe in the area. On the upside…… it was a discoverable leak.

Finally found a way to add a return HVAC duct to the 2nd floor, a 6″ gap next to the chimney and main drain vent pipe. I hadn’t noticed before as it there was flooring that extending over the hole on the 1st floor. I was able to cut the flooring away and voila, a shaft appeared. Salon room ? Shhhhsh don’t let my wife in on that one. I don’t need any more of her diversions.

Laid the drainpipes in the bathroom reno and figured out I can’t connect the shower trap unless I open up the ceiling below. I suspected I’d have but was hoping to find a way to avoid it.
