Rained all weekend. But did get new doors trimmed and some of the floor trim fixed up in between rain sessions word.

Laid the drainpipes in the bathroom reno and figured out I can’t connect the shower trap unless I open up the ceiling below. I suspected I’d have but was hoping to find a way to avoid it. Wifey was not pleased when I gave her the news I had to cut through in her closet, meaning we have to empty out all of her clothes. May even find a couple chocolates she hid in there.

Finally found a way to add a return HVAC duct to the 2nd floor, a 6″ gap next to the chimney and main drain vent pipe. I hadn’t noticed before as it there was flooring that extending over the hole on the 1st floor. I was able to cut the flooring away and voila, a shaft appeared. It’ll have to open up at the top of the stair landing, but it’ll capture the hot air pushed up by the cool 1st floor AC.

Now have a roof leak that we fixed some years back. It’s back!!!!

Had to go to my daughter-in-law and get her car started. My son is out of town. So I wasn’t able to work the roof last night. Perhaps tonight word.

So I’m running vent pipe up in the ceiling near the chimney and what do I find….a leak. It’s been dry the past week and never would have discovered if not for the timing of running the vent pipe in the area. The shingle and chimney flashing are 18 months old so I’m guessing it’s a crack in concrete chimney cap or pointing between bricks. It better not be a bad flashing job, I’ll be PO’d.

I think Mark put the whammy on me.
