Yeah, I hear the east is hot. We were in Coos Bay last week and for the 4th and it was nice and cool there. Cold for the fireworks. Gonna be gone for the next 2 weeks so see you then.

I’m back. It wasn’t so much R&R. It was go go go. We got to UT and spent 3 days packing our son. Then we went to the airport to catch a plane to TN. Well, American had no planes coming in or working so everything was delayed or cancelled. So we gave up and came back and loaded up the next day and drove to my brother’s and then the next day came home. It was not very restful. I think I am glad the flight didn’t work out. That would have been more of the same.
Now I have a guy coming next week to re do my septic line from the kitchen to the tank. That will be one thing I don’t have to think about ever again. Can’t wait!!

Nope, no R&R for you. I’m not surprised by the flight cancellation. I think you would have liked Tennessee but it really depends on the area you were headed to. Hopefully your guy gets it right and the drain works well.
We’ve been having intermittent storms moving in from the midwest. In all, about 7.5 inches of rain over 7 days. WE had a downpour last night that dropped enough volume to overflow the gutters. Now I’m thinking about adding another downspout midway on the 32 ft gutter we have.
Yeah, We are slated to go to TN Aug 10-15 so we’ll see how that works out. They’ve been having thunder storms there as well I understand.
I did have a guy come over to talk about the drain. He had a different idea and has since ghosted me. I hope he just lets me know when he can start. I can do a bit of prep work but not all of it. I hope he gets back with me.
How is your wife’s vision after the eye surgery? I hope she is seeing well now.
World cup consi final was a barn burner, great game. Final was not the greatest except Spain just absolutely shut Argentina down. Not a shot in regulation. Just amazing defense.

The guy just called me. He says he will start tomorrow so I will be busy after work to get deck boards up and get a hole dug to find the pipe going into the septic tank. I figured next week some time. Wow, this is great news but a little fast. I was going to get the boards up on Sat but I didn’t want to ruin the deck too soon. This is good news. But means I will be working pretty hard tonight to get things ready.

More rain last night. The grass has never been greener in July.
Yeah, that’s right. Better now than in an emergency situation. They came yesterday at 11:00 in the morning and were done with the whole job by 3:00. Amazing. They were great, had great attitudes, and got to work. I am over the top about this. Now the system is back to “as built” which is the original design. And it is all plastic piping now instead of those old concrete pipe sections or the sump pump. Boy am I glad to get rid of that. I’m going to have him check from the tank outlet to the D box as well, and the d box and path to the drain field. I want to get this thing right before I am made to do it whenever we sell this place. At least I’ll have info to make a rational decision. If I sell and they find an issue, I have to buy a whole new system for $40k-$80k. I think I can spend less than that to just fix it up.
Some years ago, 10-15 or so, the rain stopped in the summer almost completely. We’ve had brown grass in the summer ever since. One year it actually burned the grass, turned it black. A nice rain, at night of course, once a week would do the grass wonders.

That’s a simple enough inspection these days using the snake cameras. I’ve got cast iron sanitary pipe in the basement. It has 4′ sections of iron packed with lead at the joints. The sanitary line from inside out to the street is same. I had to replace about 20′ of iron pipe from the second floor bath to the basement lateral due to corrosion failure and I fear the outside pipe could be in the same condition. I’ll have it scoped but I may just go ahead and have an epoxy liner installed even if it looks okay. It’s far easier to lay in the liner than having to dig up the cast iron pipe.
I’m hoping if I need a fix it will be similar. This guy will use the camera. Just the coolest idea ever. Hopefully the pipe is still good and can be lined so it lasts into the distant future.
Just feeling really good about what was just accomplished. I can give you the number of the guy I used. Not sure that he will travel though.

The pipe liner is a really slick idea. It avoids tearing up everything above the pipe no matter what it is, and that is far more time consuming. Fingers crossed for you that concrete pipe remains in good enough condition.
Yep, that would be ideal. The outlet baffle to the tank is plastic so there was something done before we bought the place because I am unaware of that happening while I’ve lived here. So maybe we are in a good place here. I’m hoping.

We’re watching No.2’s 3 boys this weekend while the parents are way at a wedding. 4, 6 and 8. I’ll probably take them over to the inlet for some fishing. Flounder and bluefish move in and out with the tide this time of year. The flounder are better for eating, but when the small bluefish are schooled up the kids can have a blast sighting them. They’re 14-16 inches in the inlet. Momma and Poppa hang out outside. There’s also a county fair this weekend so we’ll probably head over there for some rides and games before dinner.
That sounds like fun. I hope it all works out and kids and grands have a great time.
My son is moving stuff to TN right now. He’s in Iowa I think. He has the biggest Uhaul truck available and dragging a very large dump trailer behind him. It’s a big rig. And both are stuffed to the gills. He has guys there to unload everything and will then go to Huntsville AL to pick up a tractor and take it back to the place. He’ll fly home after that and rest a bit and then take his wife and kids out there dragging their RV trailer.
We head out there 10 Aug for 5 days, but have already put an offer on a house. My wife could no longer wait.
