#1 grandson finished 5th in a sailing regatta with 53 boats. Sailors were age 8 to 11. He’s 8 and sharp with the tacking.

Nice job!
Some areas here got another 5-6 inches of rain. Ponds overflowing, water over some roads. Could have a regatta.
Have a spectacular day word!August 6, 2023 at 8:01 am #1560RYouParticipantReally need some of that rain, but not 6-7 inches
August 7, 2023 at 1:59 pm #1561mspartParticipantWe got rain but not really measurable. My oldest son was using a hand truck to transport a a very heavy gun safe. Slipped under the handtruck and it split skin on his calf, but did not break a bone. He’s lucky. I got him from the ER after stitches, but found him at Safeway nearby. I guess he’s going to live word.

Slipped under a handtruck and split his calf? Cannot picture how that happened but sounds painful.
Have a terrific day word!August 8, 2023 at 12:55 pm #1563mspartParticipantHi AC – I can’t picture it myself. It’s still a bit sore for him and he’s busy so it is hampering his progress a bit. Don’t get hurt word!

Corporate office is impressive. A treasure trove of terrible ideas.
Have a tremendous day word!August 10, 2023 at 8:34 am #1568RYouParticipantDon’t miss being dragged into meetings that were non-meetings. Was always suspicious they just needed proof I was alive.
One day my boss called. He started laughing right off and ordered me to go to the office. I hadn’t been there in almost 2 years and corp security called him asking why I he didn’t collect my access card. He told them I was still working. They instructed him to prove it. So I had to show up one day and use my card to enter in order to get me off an inactive list. Apparently, this was triggered by a glitch where HR didn’t remove an employee from the payroll after he had retired, and they kept paying him.
August 10, 2023 at 2:14 pm #1569mspartParticipantI want to retire and still get paid. What a great deal word!!

The retire with pay does sound like a great deal!
Engineering manager called asking why I hadn’t updated a project in Smartsheets. Told him that it wasn’t updated because I haven’t done any work on it yet as it is slated for 2025. Then he asked if I could start it because he had someone in the office waiting on my progress reports. So now I can send in progress reports of zero until 2025 so they can chart that. Makes sense.
Have a fantastic day word!August 11, 2023 at 7:11 am #1571RYouParticipantHa, project management reports. We had a new head honcho takeover and that first change he made was o require everyone to submit project management up the chain on a monthly basis. 2 days of training on how to write and submit the reports. Sometimes I’d work 10-12 projects over month and submitting that report for each was time consuming, sometimes a day and half to update all. After about 6 months a took a 2 week vacation starting mid month and didn’t submit the reports before leaving. No one questioned it. Hmmm. Skipped sending them in the following month too. No word, no questions. So I skipped it again. Nothing. We had to submit them to a central database, not an individual. Oops, forgot to send them again, and again and again. No word. Annual review, nothing said. Then we got a new head honcho. He decided to switch to an entirely new management software system. Funny, no means for submitting those project management reports. No one said a word, we just let the sleeping giant sleep. All of that extra work and no one was using them.
