mspartParticipantI did not catch RAF 08. Real is the deal for sure. I do’nt know much about Ashnault but kudos to him for doing it, making a little money, and on his decision to head back to Rutgers.

mspartParticipantWe have a metal roof on a outdoor shed covering. Very slippery when wet and also dry. Not recommended for older folks like me who have to get up there and clean it and I’m busy slipping all over the place. No golf shoes on that!! They are more like lean toos. Fully open to the elements but has a roof. It stays pretty dry in there and we have a lot of stuff stored that is used often. Riding lawnmower, attachments to said mower (used them this weekend), and a lot of other stuff that is not used so much. My son’s home made forge is in there as well. Lumber and son’s other tools. As long as it that stuff stays dry, it is ok. So far so good. But I hate getting on that roof. It’s under a bunch of cedars and they drop a lot of stuff on it.

mspartParticipantWell, my wife decided she needed a floral barrier to the garden. So I had to remove the grass in that area. I rented a sod cutter that worked pretty good. But I’m still sore from all that work. Lifting the rolls of sod, they are very heavy and there’s no good ergonomic way to do it. But I’m slowly recovering. That cutter worked pretty good. Much easier than a shovel.

mspartParticipantWell, she chose well. But she really should see this stuff.
I get to spray the grass for moss today. Moss grows rampantly around here. It’s green so from a distance the lawn looks ok but there is moss everywhere. We’ll attempt to get rid of it and get the grass growing. I get to do that after work.

mspartParticipantShe needs to see those. Definitely. Everyone should see these. Tetons is a great park. Yes yes yes.
RV or no, she’s gotta go.

mspartParticipantThat sounds like a great trip. I have fished for Walleyes but only brought up a leach. I’ve been wanting to go to Banff which is just north. I’ll make it there at some point. I also want another trip to Yellowstone, again. I love that place. On the other hand we live in a really nice place, deer come through the property almost everyday and eat my wife’s plants. There are some bears (momma and 3 babies) roaming around. Last year they were in our garbage. So far, not doing that. That’s a mess for sure. Raccoons, squirrels, oppossums, and cougars. Don’t see the cougs much but we have had them here.

mspartParticipantI’ve been to Glacier park once. Funny story, my Dads family was going to go. They lived in Idaho Falls, ID. So a significant trip back in the day. My dad got pneumonia the day they were to leave and was in the hospital for 2 weeks. His whole family never went. His sisters blamed him for ruining their vacation and they never went there, except maybe when they got so much older. I think I went there with my brother and my Mom for the first trip to Glacier for my Dad. So it was all our first trip. We saw a mountain goat is what I remember. I think I was 14. I don’t think my Grandparents ever made it there. My Dad caused quite the family disruption.
Worked pretty hard on Saturday. Did a lot of digging and shoveling. My wife wants a slightly larger garden so I am stripping the grass from the end to add 3-4 feet of grass. I did about 10-20 sq ft and I was worn out, it was the last thing I was doing for the day. I think we are going to rent a sod machine that will do an 18 inch wide and up to 2.5 deep swath. That’s just got to be easier.
On another note, we purchased a new lawn tractor mower while we were in Phoenix in Feb. It is newer than what we have and this weekend I changed the fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs, and air filter. I have to change the oil and then I’m going to do the valve lash setting. I think that will make it run just great. Figured out the valve lash adjustment on a youtube video. Good thing for youtube. I will do the valve lash stuff sometime this week. I figured it would be a real pain but it doesn’t appear to be such a problem.

mspartParticipantYeah, that pretty much explains him. Very motivated. Can’t sit around. Has to be doing something. Still cool and wet here. It’s 8:18am and it looks like dusk out there. You can see but it is dark. Typical Seattle.

mspartParticipantYes, you have to weigh how much the unit costs vs how much crap there is to take to the dump. Those are the costs. So hopefully what you can get from it outweighs those costs. He and his wife run a dog boarding facility that is quite successful and he is semi retired. So he has time to burn and does this to have something to do. He’s done ok with it. I’m guessing that activity will decrease as he moves into the asphalt sealcoating business he has been doing for years. He used to have a crew, but now he subcontracts the work out and his time is only spent getting the contract and collecting the money and paying the subcontractor. Nice gig if you can get it. But he had his crew doing the work for years before his reputation became good. So he dabbles in making money and does substitute shift work at the dog place when an employee doesn’t show up.

mspartParticipantThis morning is foggy here, or maybe that’s a little bit of drizzle. Not sure, but it is cold out there. We burned some yard debris on saturday, it burned down in our burn enclosure, burned all night, was still smoking in the morning and afternoon. It is quite remarkable how fires just destroy everything given the time. So that was pretty cool.
My son bought a storage unit for $300 some time ago, found $1200 in cash, sold a bunch of the stuff. So that worked. He just bought another for $30. It looks like the people were deported. Anyway, piles and piles of clothes were there. He gave all of that to my wife, and she has been going through it and it looks like nice stuff really. We have a lady in our church that sends clothes to Africa (I don’t know where) so that is where all this is going. That which is trash will be trashed. The rest sent on. That’s kind of a nice thing really. Plus there were tools that he sold for $500 or so, so that ended up being a decent deal for him.
I’m waiting for him to find a Gibson Les Paul guitar. And a 4×12 speaker cabinet and Marshall amplifier and I’ll take those ha ha.

mspartParticipantQuite the story on Jax. How do you get a guy like that? Just amazing.
Sunny here finally. But cold.

mspartParticipantAgreed. Yes I did see the Caliendo dismissal of Messenbrink. But he did shake at the end of the match. I get it kind of. The champ going to everyone shaking hands and saying good job guys, good job. A bit of a scene really. Caliendo got beat down for sure.
I was expecting an exciting match from Jax, but that didn’t happen. All of his other matches were high flying things. Either Davino is just really really good, or Jax just shut down and played it safe.

mspartParticipantYes, Taylor put together quite a team this year. PSU did not do as well as seeded this year. But they did well enough to win comfortably, but not as much as in previous years. They are probably wondering why Starocci couldn’t get a 6th title. (Disclaimer: I am totally against him having a 5th season or anyone else having a 5th season)
Anyway it was really quite exciting with a number of surprises in there.

mspartParticipantWow. I’ve never seen anything like that. That’s incredible. I guess something you had to live through to actually understand it.
NCAAs are mostly going along but there are some upsets. One #2 lost before the quarter finals. All the #1s are on schedule. But there is one guy that was seeded #27 that is in the quarters. So that’s unanticipated.

mspartParticipantYeah, been there, done that. I never had that issue in MN. The snow was dry and they cleared it quickly. In Seattle, the snow is wet and turns to icy slush when a car runs over it. Traction is zero. I’ve had bad commutes before. I’ve had times I couldn’t get up the hill to get to my driveway. Had to abandon the car on the main road. I once borrowed my neighbors tractor and took 4 hours or so clearing that hill and our little area around our houses. It was a lot of snow.
