mspartParticipantyes, the surgery went well, she is now almost 2 weeks. Her doc said she has no restrictions, the occcupational therapy lady said 3 weeks more of light duty if she doesn’t want months of trouble. So I will have to keep her down. But she is doing most things now.
Movers come to get our stuff on 09 Nov and we bug out shortly after that. I bought tickets to the Iron Bowl in Tuscaloosa. Should be fun.
mspart
mspartParticipantSame here, temps are going down steadily. Expecting rain the next two days. Looking like I will retire end of Nov. So I’m working towards that. My wife has surgery on both hands tomorrow so I am taking a week off, maybe two while she recovers. Lots of time to work out the retirement.
House in TN closes on Friday maybe.
mspart
mspartParticipantWell, my friend pulled out a bunch of fuel out of the tank and it had separated. The carb was all gobbed up. I guess our gas is pretty old so I need to get new gas. Anyway, the mower is now running so that is good.
Getting cooler here, more dewey, and darker in the mornings. The season is changing from warm and no rain to cool and rain. Will need to turn off the sprinklers soon.
mspart
mspartParticipantThat’s an incredible deal, congrats. My son runs into great deals like that. I never do. My wife has gathered a bunch of free furniture for the move to TN. I never see stuff like that. Hopefully my friend will be able to get my riding mower started. It ran and then it didn’t. He thinks the carb jets might be plugged. I have no idea, but the safety switches all seem to be working properly.
Maybe I just need to replace the carb in the machine, its got new plugs.
mspart
mspartParticipantYes, getting that done is always a relief. We got our asphalt driveway seal coated so that is something we don’t have to worry about. Next summer I get to install new decking, probably composite. Also a piece of wood on the roof needs to be replaced. Tool shed door needs work as well as the tiny house composter door. So I have my work cut out for me next summer. Not as extensive as a siding replacement but it will keep me busy.
In TN, my son will have a lot for me to help him with so I think there will be no end of it.
mspart
mspartParticipantMy folks went back to Huntsville to visit and they drove to Atlanta and went through a town with a local burger joint that you could get burgers rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, well done and Shermanized. That cracked me up when they told me that.
Savannah is a nice place. Don’t have much to day about SC. Or St. Augustine FL. But FL is great for warm water, nice weather. etc.
Huntsville, AL has the space museum where they have an actual Saturn V rocket and Space Camp. There is Pine Mountain GA (just north of Columbus) that is a beautiful area where FDR had his “little” White House. Callaway Gardens is there and that is a nice resort to visit. I love that area. We lived in Atlanta for some months and we went down there and had a great time.
I hope y’all have a great trip.
mspart
mspartParticipantYeah, I’ve been thinking of that. Lots of places, historical places, beach places, smoky mountain places, etc etc. I think we will be able to do so unless my wife gets a job. She may do that. There was talk of her joining the preschool where the grandson will go so he and she will have the preschool experience he wanted and she wanted. She kept the preschool open for 2 years so that he could come. Now they are in MT on their way to TN. So that plan didn’t work well. I guess we’ll see what happens. Maybe she can just volunteer.
mspart
mspartParticipantIt’s been a long time getting that done. Congratulations!!
I just talked with a guy that took 2 years to redo his deck in composite. It looks great. I will most likely be doing that next summer here. That will be a big job I think.
My instinct is to say Yellowstone for vacation but it is getting cold there by this time I’m guessing. I could suggest Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. It’s always warm there. Phuket Thailand I hear is great. Rome is good and the temps are nice about now. Ha ha!!
Maybe a drive to Lake America would be a nice time. Or the Gulf of America, that would be a long drive. Trump cracks me up with renaming things. Just in there stirring the pot!!
Dollywood should be a nice visit or thereabouts. If I make it to Clarksville before Thanksgiving, I will try to head to Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl!! Big Bama Fan, hate Auburn. But I don’t have any idea when we might actually make it out there. That’s not a vacation spot though. Been there, not a whole lot to see, but we just stayed in the city mostly.
Maybe get lost in Bermuda!!!
Have a great day word!
mspart
mspartParticipantI have not tried that with peppers. Maybe we’ll give that a shot this time.
Kids will wear you out. We now have 3 kids living with us. They will be here alone when we move to TN. So we are getting the wheels turning to moving. Just a few more pieces need to get into place and we are off.
mspart
mspartParticipantI like growing peppers. We froze them last year and they didn’t stay hot so I’m looking for ways to store them so they keep their caipasin levels.
mspart
mspartParticipantYeah, the deer got our only apple. It looked ready to pick a few days ago and now it is gone. One apple from two trees. Pretty sad.
We put up a wire fence and I don’t think the deer are getting in that way anymore. It is supposed to rain here the rest of the week. Yesterday I stained the boards on the deck that I had to replace some weeks ago ahead of the rain. I’m glad I got that done.
We have I don’t know how many habaneros, all green. We have 2 jalapenos and 2 serranos. Those just didn’t produce much this year. Maybe we’ll try some in TN and see how that goes.
mspart
mspartParticipantYeah, I’d say item A is a bigger deal. Hopefully the weather guys get it right. But if they say no rain, are you sure to get rain so you still don’t go up there? We have had little rain here for the last few months. Next 10 days they are predicting about .25 inches. Not much.
Deer just walked into our garden. We have bird netting as a fence and they just go under it. I chased them out but that just showed how easily they can get in and out. They ate down the habenero plants. Left the peppers alone but ate the leaves. So we need to do something. We will put up a real fence tonight, but it is kind of too late. We’ll have to figure out something for the low side so they can’t just jump in and out. Dang deer.
mspart
mspartParticipantWell, Mobile is right on the gulf so there is humidity there galore. Yeah I bet that was miserable. It was pretty tough in northern TN though. But I’d have to agree that Southern AL would be worse. FL would also be worse. But the winter months are so much nicer. Hopefully that stands up.
mspart
mspartParticipantMy Dad was president of his HOA for older folks (retirement community). The building was built with siding that absorbed water, here in Seattle. So they had to replace siding and of course the contractor was out of business. So he was the bad guy that had to hike the fees so that the buildings didn’t rot around them. Yeah, I don’t like HOAs either. We live in one and they are pretty hands off, but do get in your business a little. We had to advise them we were putting in a garden. They said ok, but we still had to ask for permission.
But we were in TN in the worst week probably for heat and humidity. It was pretty strong. Even in the shade it was pretty tough to be outside.
mspart
mspartParticipantClose. We will move here and I will retire a few months after that, that’s the plan anyway. I guess we’ll see.
WEnt back to the house today and I felt a bit better about it. The backyard is good but the HOA is apparantly rough so doing something back there might be tough. I guess we’ll see.
98F today. We drove into KY and it was 100 there. Pretty warm.
