Good to hear she’s doing well. Don’t let her overdue the packing and unpacking. By the way, think about a snowblower if you don’t have one.

The Iron Bowl should be a great one. Both are unpredictable given the rivalry. Auburn knocked off Georgia and Alabama has an occasional hiccup.

So V makes his annual appearance. You should stop by more often. I’ve tried to post a pic but the system isn’t friendly to me.

I presume the surgery went well and wifey is managing without full use.

Looks like everything is settling out for you. I hope all goes well with no snags arise before the closing. I am sure you two will get used to more than 60 days of sunshine.

About the same weather here though the rain is unlikely for the next 5-6 days. I turned around at 6:30 and the sun had already set. My winter depression is starting to emerge. I just wish they would pass that clock Act. I hate giving up that hour in the early evening. We may see 70 on Thursday. If so, that’s probably that last time for the year.

Done. 5 days of 20-30mph wind. 3 days with 9 inches of rain. It’s finally gone. Saturday evening was the worst with gusts up to 50 mph and 5 inches of rain. A true northeastern gale blew in on Friday and swirled over us for 3 days of constant rain. It broke up about 9 AM this morning. In many ways it wasn’t near as bad as was predicted but the rain was far worse than the 3 inches they predicted. The area is a mess with broken limbs and shredded leaves.
    …and we never lost power.

2 ladies down the street asked my brother in law for help getting rid of snow blower in their garage. He took a look at, 15 years old but like new. He suggested they sell it, but they wanted nothing to do with strangers. He called me and asked me if I wanted it. I’ve been shoveling the past 54 years so of course I would. We have pavers all over, everywhere we would want to blow snow but I was afraid a blower might scrape the pavers. I’ve since learned they make composite scraper blades and skid rails. I went and picked it up last Friday and opened it up over the weekend. The carb was loaded with something that had crystalized. $30, a new carb and plug and it fired right up and hummed. The composites arrive tomorrow.

I think I’ll like into a southern road trip for March-April. Just take a few weeks checking out the rural towns and to warm up from winter. Looks like summer is done here. We’ve hit the typical fall weather, 60’s cloudy and rainy. It feels more like the 40’s, downright blah weather. I’m just glad I finished my outdoor work last week.

Wifey and I like going to the Charleston SC and Savannah, GA area, down to St. Augustine FL. True old south not wrecked by Sherman’s push through the south. Lots of pretty southern towns along the coast, nice beaches, great fishing and a lot of great southern food. We usually in spring or fall to avoid the summer humidity.

If you do Yellowstone then you have to do the Tetons and Jackson JHle also. They aren’t that far away. If driving, take Snake River Canyon route. Head to Bozeman, too.

We’re headed to St Pete’s Beach Florida in November. It’s a good time of year for Florida, 80’s and the rains have slowed down.

From TN, you’ll open a a whole slew of new vacation ventures.

Finished with the siding. 5 years, 1 month and I’m finally finished upgrading the house. I originally guessed it would be a 3 year project. Wifey asks, So, where are we going for a vacation.

Have you tried storing them in distilled vinegar? My uncle used to preserve them that way. The vinegar also kills/prevents mold from developing. I never ate then since I was too young at the time. I’m told the peppers don’t absorb the vinegar. You need to slit the pepper to let the vinegar seep inside.

Just got through 3 weeks of the kids and their kids visiting. We’re beat. I made omelets, eggs and bacon, plus pancakes or waffles every day. I never want to another egg for a long long time.

We had 2 pepper plants this year and lucked out with 4 small peppers. I used to grow jalapenos just for stuffed jalapeno poppers on the grill. I think I’ll try them again next year.

I only grow tomatoes and peppers, and have a plastic mesh held up with pvc pipe posts. Deer roam through in the AM and again at dinner for apples on the ground but have not bothered the leaves on the garden plants. My problem is squirrels stealing the apples up in the tree. I’ve trapped and relocated 14 squirrels over the past 2 years. I’ve got 2 left that enter from adjacent trees, not the ground. Aside from a pellet gun, I haven’t figured out how to get rid of the last 2. hey start at the top in July and work their way down taking an, eating maybe a quarter of it then dropping it and moving to another apple, then another and another. Deer eat what’s dropped. A doe and 3 fawns. Last year there weren’t enough apples left for a single apple pie.

The weather guessers are driving me bonkers. They 70% chance of rain, no rain. I’m trying to reshingle the siding on a couple of dormers and can’t plan on going on the roof if they are predicting rain. A slippery and B I’m exposing the wall sheathing.

Tennessee heat and humidity have to be better than the same in Alabama and far less often. I spent a week near Mobile twice, 95+ heat, 80%+ humidity. Both times were in the summer, and it was brutal. As soon as you stepped outside the sweat bloomed. We get the heat and humidity, but nothing like Alabama. Tennessee is far more moderate.

That’s one big difference between Washington and Tennessee, the weather. It’s not the dramatic change of Minnesota. but hotter summers, colder winters and a lot more snow.

We were in a HOA when we had the townhouse. Hated it. Snow removal was always underbudgeted and subject to special assessments for winters with more than 34 snowfalls. We got out when we heard they were planning to reroof the entire complex and there was talk the admin committee had never accrued for the cost. Sure, enough, 18months after we sold, they bumped the HOA fee $200 per month to fund the roof replacements. That was supposed to be accrued for the fees from when it was constructed, but the admin committee suppressed the charge to keep the monthly fee lower.
