mspartParticipantWe should be getting over an inch of rain by the weekend. A day ago they said 1.25 inches just on Sunday. Now it is less than that. Now it is 1.25 inches from Sat to Sunday. The lawn could sure use it. Our grass gets brown during the summer but is green all throughout the winter. Lack of rainfall in the summer is what happens here. One year the grass got burned black with high temps. Those areas still have not filled in. Our garden did great. My wife did a great job working that one. She has the green thumb for sure. We have too many habaneros and cayennes. I tried a piece of the cayenne and it has some kick to it for sure. Looking to make some salsa tonight and might drop some of those in there word.

ParticipantThe tropical finally dissipated yesterday, 3 days 4 inches of water. Leaves and branches are all over the place from the wind. So far wifey has made 8 quarts of tomato sauce and 4 quarts of tomato soup. We never such an abundant tomato crop and only plants. The volume of reds is finally winding down. The green peppers failed again this year, on 3 bells all season. I may go with jalapenos next year. I haven’t made jalapeno poppers in a long time.

mspartParticipantOur tomatoes were overgrown and as a result we were not able to get at a lot of them. Deer finally broke through the fence and ate up the fruit, not the plants. So far have stayed away from the peppers word!!

ParticipantWe have a 3 deer family that pass through the year nightly to check the apples fallen from our tree. The tomatoes are on the opposite side of the yard and the deer have tried to steal them even thou some of the branches with fruit overhang the screening that encloses the yard.

mspartParticipantWe are looking at 5 inches of rain in the next 10 days. That’s a lot for here in such a short time word.

ParticipantI’m stuck in the hospital due to a urinary tract infection. I usually go an outpatient office of my medical provider, but the wife said I should it checked out thoroughly. Well, they ran all 0f the tests and came to same conclusion as in the past, but that decide to keep overnight for follow up testing, then another NIGHT and another night. So I’ve been restricted to this room for 4 nights while they feed me IV fluid and antibiotics. Initially they told me I’d be early today, but they held off pending a blood culture which came back negative and now it’s another blood culture they sampled Friday.

mspartParticipantMan!!! I hope you get out of there soon. Normally I would think they are seeing something they can’t explain. But it has been long enough for them to find whatever they are looking for I would think. It’s horrible being held captive in a hospital. Do they let you go exploring and go to the cafeteria? Or just walk up and down the hall? There’s not much more boring than being in a hospital. I hope you escape soon word.

ParticipantFinally got out Sunday. 5 days waiting for 3 blood cultures that were clear. Worst 5 days ever. I was tubed to an IV cart with tubes in both arms so I go anywhere off the floor. There were windows on the floor but both opened to a brick wall. It was light out but the sun never passed by. The bed was horrible memory foam, I just sunk into the middle in a position that would 2 hours before it became really uncomfortable. What really got me PO’d was that 3 docs cleared me to go home after the first night but they have another doc that has final say and she kept running blood cultures expecting to find something.

mspartParticipantGlad you are home. There’s no place like home. Especially after an extended stay in the hospital. I hope you recover from the hospital quickly word.

ViratasKeymasterYes Ryou, please get well!
That’s to keep your whining ass shut. You want off this ranch, you got it. I’ll drive your ass to the train station myself.October 24, 2025 at 6:45 am #3957RYou
ParticipantThanks V. I’ve been great ever since the 2nd day in the hospital. That’s what PO’s me. I had to stay in while they waited for a daily blood culture. There was no reason I couldn’t go home and wait for telephone results if something was amiss.
It got down to 40 this AM, just above frosting, so I guess I’ll take down the tomatoes today and overturn the dirt.
