ParticipantYup, he’s incredible. Aoyagi didn’t look anything like a world champ though. Over the next 5 years he and Carr are going to have some brutal battles.

mspartParticipantOur whole team did really well this year. US tied with Iran for 1st place as a team so far. We should be in good hands come 2028 between these U23 guys and our senior guys word.

mspartParticipantOur higher weights were not as strong, but overall, yes, an impressive outing. #1 Team in the world, perhaps even the Universe!!!

mspartParticipantI’m really impressed with these new guys. Jax just overcame a lot with his opponent in the finals. That guy did not give up and Jaz didn’t give up more than that. It was a real battle of attrition and Jax showed the heart of a champion. It was a great match to watch. I watched all his matches and he was just on fire.
I watched all of Lilledahls matches and he barely won just about all of them. He won gold but not in a decisive manner. I did not watch any other matches yet.
But our U23 team just did a great job!!

ParticipantOnly root beer and grape.
There’s been an exodus from NYC into Jersey fand Florida or 5-6 years snow. It’s blown the real estate market wide open. It’ll continue. This new mayor Mandami is excentric. He’s set on cutting the MYPD even further, they’re down 6000 officers already.
He’s raising personal and business income taxes. If you live in Jersey but work in NYC, you get hit with the NYC, NY state and NJ income taxes. Those living in NJ hit a cash windfall with COVID since work at home doesn’t qualify for NY taxes. Of late its been the crime in the city, employees have refused to return to the office due to the crime. No doubt, if follows through increasing the business income tax 5% it will drive some big businesses out of the City, combine it with the employee revolt and difficulties hiring new, there’s lots of motivation to get out. JP Morgan has already moved over half its office to Texas. Other capital business are doing the same. It’s only a matter of time before they lock the doors.November 7, 2025 at 7:22 am #4023RYou

mspartParticipantMy son and I built to deck platforms for my wife yesterday in the pouring rain. Got it done and squared up pretty nicely. Just need to put the decking on the first platform and the joists on the second and get the decking on it. Need to add some stairs word.

ParticipantI enjoy working in the rain, but it has to be warm out so I don’t need a coast. Add a hat to keep it off the face and I’m good to go.
Building a deck is always a chore. Thankfully this house is one step off the ground so I don’t need a deck.
November 10, 2025 at 12:43 pm #4045
mspartParticipantThis deck in in a hole in the woods behind our house. It’s about 40-50 ft from the house. 20 years here and she never mentioned anything about that area, but now it needs to be a deck. So it is a work in progress. There are two platforms one higher than the other because the ground slopes so much that it would be too high off the ground if we just made it one level.
Split some wood, a bear tore down a 2×6 about 8 feet up. Just snapped the deck screws, sheared the two on one end and one on the other. It is hanging by one deck screw now. Might need stronger bolts or something. Thinking the same for the decks getting built word.

ParticipantIf a bear sheared the deck bolts, I don’t think you can find something stronger except a thicker bolt or a Grade 8 bolt. They use them on carnival rides because of the shear strength. I’m pretty sure the only come in carriage bolts, no lag bolts.
A northern blow rolled in last night leaving us with 29F in the AM. It never beat 40 F today and with 20-30 MPH it was wicked cold. I had intended to do some leaf clean up today but it would have been fruitless with the wind. Took wifey shopping and out to lunch.
