We have a 3 deer family that pass through the year nightly to check the apples fallen from our tree. The tomatoes are on the opposite side of the yard and the deer have tried to steal them even thou some of the branches with fruit overhang the screening that encloses the yard.

The tropical finally dissipated yesterday, 3 days 4 inches of water. Leaves and branches are all over the place from the wind. So far wifey has made 8 quarts of tomato sauce and 4 quarts of tomato soup. We never such an abundant tomato crop and only plants. The volume of reds is finally winding down. Tropical storm from the south moved in Saturday night. Its been raining ever since, 4″ so far. They forecast more tonight and tomorrow before it moves out.

That job would be a big enough but having the deck all around it just makes it a nasty one.

Do you have any idea how deep the tank is from the surface. The sewer drain will be at the top of the tank. If you determine where the top of the tank sits you gauger how deep the pipe runs since it will be a straight line to the start at the house. Hopefully the pipe is not too deep. Because of the freeze potential out here the sanitary pipes are at least 3 feet deep and often more.

Pipe inside the pipe is one approach. The other is an epoxy coated fabric that is placed inside the pipe all of the way to the septic, then pressured inflating it against the existing pipe walls and cured with UV. The trenchless bladder it a very thin walled epoxy based “balloon” that gets dragged through the pipe and then inflated and cured. It does reduce the inside diameter significantly. 4 days in the 80’s. Early Indian Summer. 70’s Wednesday to Saturday. I sure hope this is a sign of a warm winter. Gas and electric rates are killing us out here. It’s all because the gov enlisted the state utilities in a regional service providers and forced the shutdown of natural gas electric utilities.

The rest of NJ gets about 50 inches of rain, but since we are close to the coast, we only average 35-40 inches. About 25% of that is from 1 to 3″ downpours.

Can you connect the sink drain to the toilet outlet?

We have an ice cream shop down the street that serves the best flavors Key Lime Pie, Pumpkin Cream Pie. My favorite is simply an extra thick, soft vanilla shake. A lot office cream shops shut down in winter. This place will have a 15 minute wait line on a Wednesday in January. Longer on Friday Saturday and Sunday night

They all have a few brothers and sisters, so the individual attention goes over well. Basically, it’s whatever they want to do.

Only 2 bell pepper plants giving a total of 3 peppers. They were buried under the tomato plants. No buds so I ripped them out. Same for my pickling cucumbers. The 2 vines produced 1 pickle but started taking over the garden, so I ripped them out and cut off all the vines. I’ve 6 garlic and a horseradish buried and appear to be doing okay.…[Read more]

We don’t have many cedar trees around here, they aren’t native.

I used a plastic mesh with screws on 1.5″ PC pipe to encircle the little raised bed we have. The tomatoes have overgrown the 5 ft high mesh. But it works, no squirrels, rabbits, deer or birds have gotten in. The small wrens have landed on top of the pipes, but I think they knew if the glided down they couldn’t get out.
